Overview
The Trekking to the Base of the Torres del Paine is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic hikes in Patagonia and an experience that remains etched in the memory of every adventurer. This demanding yet rewarding full-day trek takes you through landscapes of overwhelming beauty: valleys carved by ancient glaciers, lenga forests, rivers, and natural viewpoints that reveal the grandeur of Torres del Paine National Park.
The route begins in the Hotel Las Torres sector, with an uphill hike through the Ascencio River Valley, flanked by towering mountains and dramatic rock walls. As you advance, the sound of the Patagonian wind and cascading streams accompany the journey, while breathtaking views of the natural surroundings unfold. After crossing suspension bridges and passing by Refugio Chileno, the trail enters a native forest — cool and shaded — offering a brief respite before the final challenge.
The last stretch is a steep climb over large rocks and boulders, demanding physical effort and determination. Upon reaching the summit, the reward is one-of-a-kind: a direct and awe-inspiring view of the three Torres del Paine. The moment invites silence, reflection, and the photos every traveler dreams of capturing.
